Rule 1: Never Pay to Shop!

Everyone’s seen them. Ads in the newspaper, or an email promising that you can make tons of money and get all kinds of free stuff as a mystery shopper. All you have to do is sign up with them and pay some kind of fee.

Let me be clear here… These aren’t mystery-shopping companies that you are signing up with. The majority of these kinds of sites are just job listings from company web sites and forums. Would you pay to search through the classifieds, or search sites like Monster, Career Builder, or Indeed? Legitimate Mystery Shop companies will never ask for money for you to register to see if you are eligible to shop for them.

In my next few posts I will give you some places to go, where you don’t have to pay a fee to get shops.

Hey All!

Hey everyone, this is JIM and welcome to Chaotic Fate.  I just wanted to give you a small idea of who I am and what this blog is all about.  I am a 28-year-old guy who just didn’t have what it took to be in Corporate America.  I’m not going to deny it, I am far from normal, and I like to have unusual color hair, love getting tattoos, and love going to concerts at least three times a month.  Where was I going to find a stable enough job that would be enabling me to do this?

There was one place, the restaurant industry, and don’t get me wrong I loved that industry, I was in it for the last 14 years of my life.  I got two degrees in the field, one in Culinary and the other in Hotel/Restaurant Management.  But let’s face it; this industry just doesn’t pay you well enough unless you own the restaurant.  In fact where I am from $12.00 per hour was considered great!  I had to work 50+ hrs a week, just to make to be able to survive.

If there was anything that I knew, it was that I knew my time was worth more than that, that I was worth more than that.  There was always a part of me, that dreamt of working for himself, and to own my own business.  In fact it is one of my dreams to own my own restaurant some day.  But working at that rate, there was no way I was going to be able to do that.  Thus the entrepreneur in me was born.

I started looking into low cost ways to get me to this dream of mine.  And I found many, which now enable me to start living that dream.  I was able to quit my job and start working for myself.  This blog is going to be all about one of those ways, through Mystery Shopping and Merchandising.  Now I am no expert in this field, but I do believe I have something to offer people.  And I hope you all start to see that as well.
